fun, fun

Yesterday after early release I told the kids we were going to the Children's Museum! Yay! James and Ruby were both pretty excited and Nicky, although he had no idea what I was talking about, was also pretty excited.  (Nicky is always pretty excited to go anywhere.)  (we will pull into the garage and he will say, "More Bye Bye?")
This airplane thing was new since we were last there.  Nicky LOVED it.  (He is shrieking and squealing right now, looking at this picture.)

The rooftop was awesome as usual with lots of mice and new baby chicks to hold.  James really loved this little mouse.  (Hmmmmm.  The guy said they make great pets...)
Nicky particularly liked washing up after holding the animals.
Outside there were chickens (laying an egg!) to inspect and feed.

And at the end, there was ice cream...for all of them.  The museum has Chocolate Shoppe ice cream and they do make a dairy-free italian ice but sadly, they use the same scoop for all of their ice creams so I didn't think James could have any.  The guy then told me he'd be happy to scrape off  the whole top layer of italian ice, with a clean paddle, and scoop some out for James with a fresh scoop.  I felt safe with that and watched him as he did a very thorough job of scraping off all of the possibly "contaminated" italian ice.  It was tangerine flavored and tasted just like a push up!  James really liked it.  I let Ruby and Nicky have regular chocolate and vanilla scoops and James said he wished he could have whatever flavor he wanted.  I do, too, kid.  I was torn with that but feel like having a cone is part of Ruby's experience, too, and you know what?  She doesn't have food allergies.  This is the first time we've ever all done this together and I wanted her to get what she wanted.  sigh.  It's so hard to navigate that road sometimes but I think it worked out fine.  They all ate every last bite!  :)
(Now Nicky is smacking his lips, looking at the ice cream photos.)

We just had such a good time.  The museum wasn't crowded at all and the kids got to play wherever they wanted for however long without me worrying about losing one of them.  Always a plus in my book.

Now I am out of fun pictures and Nicky is out of patience with me.

one of those long super rambly posts

So last week, I think it was Thursday, I was trying to decide to stay home or go out or something like that?  Of course I went out.  Of course I did.

It turned out to be the best, most super productive day.  First Nicky and I tried a new (to him) park.  Like nearly every other child I've seen, he favored the "bus."

After a (long) while he decided to try the merry go round and enjoyed that as well.
He even got a little cocky.
After all of this fun we went over to Whole Foods for lunch.  They always have their mac & cheese (delicious) and some sort of hot beany dish and some good chicken.  I like how it all kind of goes together, no matter what it is, and their fresh veggies are terrific, too.  Anyways, we ate our fill and Nicky played in their little play area for a while.  Then I got all of my flyers posted (I had done a few in town before we left), all of them, in good spots, and felt so happy.  Then we stopped at Goodwill on the way home and that's where I found my Fossil purse!  Oh, and I randomly went into some little dry cleaners and the lady gave me a metric ton (okay, not really) of wire hangers that I need for the kids resale.  Such a good day.

Friday was a solo day where I stopped at my first yard sale of the year (blech) and hit a few thrift stores.  I was moving kind of slow and just enjoyed the day...even stopped for lunch at Panera.  After that I met Heidi at the dig and we found a lot of good stuff and then I headed home to work for an hour before picking up Nicky.

He was chewing gum when I got there.  What????  Yes, he had a tiny wad of gum in his mouth and has never been prouder.  (again with the cocky.)  He was still chewing it when the big kids got home and James thought it was the cutest thing he'd ever seen.  He said, "I have to call Mrs. Berg (his teacher) and tell her!"  It was cute.  He chewed that dang gum for over an hour and then I don't know where it went.  Probably to his belly.  (it was tiny.)

On Saturday we cleaned the house all day in preparation for my sister's arrival.  Her, her husband and Jacob drove a UHaul across the country (from MA to MN) filled with stuff to store at my Dad's until they move here all the way next fall!!!  It was so exciting...the first step!  Our house was a natural stopping point so they spent one quick night with us before heading up to Duluth the next day.  But not before a stop at the Dig!  :)  I love it because Ronan is such a digger.  I think Patrick would rather get run over by a truck than dig through a huge cardboard box for clothes but Ronan gets into it (literally) so it's fun.  Of course Andrea loves it and Ruby and Jacob had fun, too.  Then we kissed them goodbye in the parking lot and that was the end of Sunday fun for me.  Patrick was mad at me, still is, so that has been a bummer.  I can't say much else because what made him mad was my BIG MOUTH.  sigh.  I'm so sorry, bunny.  Can't he see that??  sigh.

Yesterday was a good day, albeit windy as heck, but it was warm and we spent a lot of it outside.  At some point I managed to pull a muscle in my upper thigh and it hurts SO bad.  Patrick just brought me his 800mg. Ibuprofen (he is warming up a little, I guess) but I need to eat something before I take them.  I hope they help.  The kids have early release today and I want to do something fun with them but am totally limping around right now.  It's especially frustrating because I am just getting my exercise groove on and now this.  I kept waking up last night because it hurt so bad but I didn't mind because I was having weird dreams about wrapping stuff in bubble wrap.  :)  haha.  You know you're an ebay-er when...

Well, this has been a LOT of going on, hasn't it?  I want to thank you guys for reaching out to me after I told you I was wondering what you all thought about my big emotional post last week.  :)  And I know Google is such a pain sometimes so today I turned off word verification again and we'll see if that helps.  I want to get those threaded comments going, where I can reply right in the comment, but I just need some time to follow one of the (seemingly) complicated tutorials out there.  Anyways, all of your words made me see or notice something I hadn't before and I really appreciate that.  You know, I told you the name of that hymn but never really put it together that the title was blessed assurance, which is just what He gave me.  Sarah pointed that out.  xoxo  Pretty cool.

xoxo, dear ones.

thrift share monday

First off, I'd like to welcome any new subscribers!  Hello!  Thank you so much for joining me really means a lot to me.  I have absolutely loved finding so many great thrifty blogs lately and am so happy to be making some new friends.  :)

Before my thrift scores, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have had this lamp for over 10 years and have never rewired it and used it. It is a wall mountable lamp and the shade is glass. Can anyone tell me what the flowers in the vase are? I have it out now and am trying to determine if I will FINALLY rewire it or if it goes to ebay. Identifying the flowers will help a lot if it goes to ebay. Thank you!! :)
I was thrilled to find this vintage inflatable bunny at the thrift store for .60!  My Grandma always had these out when I was a kid so it brought back some fond memories.  They aren't really my taste anymore, though, so it's listed in my store.  (with a bid!)
I kind of fell in love with these fish wall hangings.  They were made in Minnesota and I know someone who will be happy to take them off of my hands if they don't sell.  Paid $3.50 for both.
I love these Crocs but they are a size 10 and I am a 9.  sigh.  So cute, though!  (on ebay)
I am not really a label whore but there is something about Fossil bags.  I just LOVE them.  I bought 2 of them in haste one day last year at the thrift (those 2 that I just sold on ebay) because I was so happy to find them, only to realize later that I didn't love either one.  Fast forward to Christmas this year when I finally took the plunge and bought a new one, this one, for myself.  I LOVE it and plan on using it for a long time (in the cooler months) so there are no regrets.  I guess one really does feel like a fall & winter bag to me.  Happily I found my summer Fossil bag one day last week!  I paid 5.99 at the thrift and truly love it.  It's a canvas cross body and will be perfect for this summer.  Yay!  :)  (sorry my pics are so cruddy...very gloomy today.)
This Columbia jacket had a couple stains but for $1.40 I brought it home to try and get them out.  Out they came and I have a new jacket for next fall.  It is a very pretty pale green color.
New flip flops for me.  $3.00
Land of Nod duvet for Ruby or resale:  1.50
Oh!  And I never showed you my aqua ironing board I got a few weeks back.  The top is the best color.  I realize you don't really see it with that cover on there but it makes me happy just knowing it's there.  :)  $3.00
A lovely stack of vintage tablecloths:  3.00  They all have a few stains so I will probably list them as a cutter lot on ebay next week.
This one was cute, too.  Someone might love this with that basket of knitting.  :)  1.00
And a vintage flat Disney sheet.  There is a stain up above but the graphics are perfect.  Loved this. .75

Wow!  Lots of good stuff!  I thrifted my heart out last week and also got tons of clothes for ebay and the kids resale.

Where would I be without thrift stores???

I hate to think of it.  :)

I'm going to link up with the outstanding Apron Thrift Girl's Thrift Share Monday now.  Go see all the goodies and tell someone hello!

Well, last week was my best week yet as far as ebay sales go. I had 3 etsy sales, too!  I cleared more than double what I have the past few weeks.  It was so strange!  :)  A good strange, though, and a real blessing.  Here are some highlights/lowlights (no real thankful for all of it!):

Cake decorations (etsy) :  paid  .20  sold:  10.00
"vintage" Polo Sport Toiletries bag:  paid 2.00, sold 33.00
Tommy Bahama flip flops:  I was bummed I bought these until I saw they were over $60 on the website.  I paid 2.50, sold: 26.00
Remember these ugly crocs?  I paid 1.00 or 2.00, sold $31.58.  I guess they glow in the dark!  Never would have known that if I didn't do a little research before listing...that really pays!
Vintage Marushka canvas art:  My maiden name is Maruska so I always notice these.  They don't all sell but this one isn't seen too often.  paid 3.20, sold 18.50
My "CSA" lot sold for 6.99.  I paid 3.00 for a bunch of this food and made my money back and a little profit on these 2 lots.  Still have one more to go!
sold:  12.50  (??really??)  :)
I regretted buying this cake pan for $2.10 when I saw it didn't sell that well.  Happy to get $10.50 for it.  (I can't always look things up when Nicky is with me...he gets too crabby too quick.  Sometimes I take risks.  ;)  )
Polo hat, again with the "vintage" - paid 2.00, sold 20.39
Womens Plus Size Swim top:  paid 4.00 because it was so nice and I wanted someone to have it.  sold:  20.00 to someone in Madison!  (who still hasn't paid yet.)  :)
Ruby's old Keens:  accepted a 20.00 offer.

I also happily sold those gold clogs for $30.00 and a bunch of  other stuff, too.  A fantastic week!  And lots of work today as a lot of my items were from auctions that ended last night.  Thank God Patrick brought home lots of boxes for me as my Priority boxes haven't arrived yet.  I had also ordered bubble wrap last week and it was so nice to have it this morning.  (I love those little white boxes and hope he brings me a lot more of them.  :)  )

Nicky was such a good helper this morning.  (I didn't give him anything breakable to stack.)
Whew! I'm thoroughly enjoying the quiet house this afternoon. I think I'll go write up a Thrift Share post now. :) xoxo

happy birthday to youuuuuuuu!

Today is my new sister's birthday!
Happy Birthday, Erin!  We love you!!

(p.s.  I hope you don't mind that I stole this beautiful picture off of your facebook page.
Sisters forgive, right?  :)  )

(p.p.s.  I hope that means you'll also forgive me for your late card?! )

(there goes my new years resolution!)

I need a list. stat.  I have so many things to do and choices about today that I know I need a list to help me focus.  What I want to do is head out with Nicky for a long walk/thrift store excursion but what I maybe should do is save my gas $$ and just thrift alone tomorrow.  But I also need to put up flyers for the children's resale in April and I don't really want to put that all off until tomorrow.  I think I already know what I'm going to do.  Can you guess??  :)

Here is a stack of magazines I received last week or the week before.  I subscribed to a bunch of magazine for Christmas and it is so fun.  I haven't even read all of these but it's good to know they are waiting for me.  Of course, US Weekly should be in this pile but I discreetly put it in the bathroom for my husband after I'm done with it.  hahahaha.  I also get HGTV magazine which is a good one.  Oh, and House Beautiful.  I want Vanity Fair.  Maybe next year.  They always have such good articles to read.  (kind of news-y yet gossip-y, too)  I just remembered I get Clean Eating, too.  Good Lord.  Do I have a problem?  I feel so guilty!  hahahhahahahaha.  kidding.
By the way, I won't subscribe to Real Simple again.  I re-subscribed after taking a couple years off and it's as boring as I remember.  It used to be so good!  sigh.

On Sunday the big kids and I met Wendy and her girls at the zoo.  We spent most of our time at the little beach across the street, though.  It has been so gorgeous out.
A family pulled up with this bike and we wanted to take it for a spin sooooo bad.  Isn't it cool???  Wendy said she'd pedal and I could stand on that platform.
This is just a picture of Nicky's chubby little legs on our sick day on Tuesday.

Nicky figured out how to open the patio gates.  Of course he did.  We have one of them banded shut now and have removed all stools that would afford him access to the latch on the outside of the other one.  Tricky little bugger.  A friend emailed me yesterday and reminded me that toddlers are a lot of work.  They make her weary, too.  :)  They kind of are, aren't they?  So sweet, though.  He likes to cuddle up to me and say "hi" over and over in a very tender voice.  He gives me and my glasses little kisses and pats me gently.  He also yells "OW!" in place of no.  It's funny.  He also sings little bits of twinkle, twinkle little star at night.  Oh, Nicky.  How can he be nearly 2?  (not that I mind...) hahhaha

It feels a little awkward that I wrote that super important (to me) and heartfelt post and no one commented on it here.  I kind of wonder if you all think I'm awful or strange or I don't know what.  But also, I kind of don't.  You do develop thick skin after blogging for so many years.  I'm very glad I got it all out.  It was a big moment for me.

I'm got a hot date with the toaster right now.

Oh!  That reminds me!  Speaking of hot.  My husband has lost about 13lbs in the past 2 weeks.  He's been just eating less and taking a walk every day.  HOW DISGUSTING!  How can men lose weight so quickly and effortlessly???  My friend has talked about this before but now I see it first hand and it's sick.  Of course I am very proud of him, too.  VERY.  We were laying in bed last night and all of a sudden he goes, "Oh!"  and I was like, what? and he said, "I think I just lost another pound."  HAHAHA.  rat bastard.

I thought I'd show you a few of my sales from last week. It ended up being a decent ebay week again but not a single etsy sale! Oh well. :) I was happy with the sales I got and it was fun to see a few things move out of my new ebay store: sugar river resale.

The bummer of the week goes to these clogs.  I was so happy they sold for $33 but then the winning bidder emailed me a sob story and I cancelled the auction to be nice.  The second chance offer (to the next highest bidder) didn't go through so they are listed again.  sigh.
Izod shirt:  pd .50  sold 19.99
Lands End shirt:  pd .50  sold 9.99  (should have put this one in my store and sold it for twice as much!  live and learn.)
Mens Nike shorts:  pd  2.00  sold 15.83  eh.  (sorry about the bum shot)  :)
womens cycling jersey:  pd .25  sold 39.99 almost right away!  nice.
Lands End shirt:  pd  .50  sold  15.00
This morning I listed these Merrell sandals and they sold within a couple of hours.  pd  4.00  sold 24.99
My auctions this week are doing pretty well and I've gotten 3 offers on Ruby's Keens that I listed this morning.  (the purple ones)  They were pretty low offers so I didn't take them being as I just put them on.  I will let them sit for a while and see what happens.  Having a store is kinda fun.

I love these posts on other blogs...hope you enjoyed mine.
