Hi guys, How are you?  I am super frustrated trying to put legs on a little electric heater so I stepped away for a minute.  (deep breath)

Other than that, I am good!  Two and a half weeks into my November challenge and SICK TO DEATH of it.  :)  I don't always get my workouts in during the day so then I have them looming over my evening and I am sick of it.  But not quitting, not that sick.  I am on the cusp of something good or major frustration.  Too early to tell.  Let's keep our fingers crossed for something good.

Also, the day I peed my pants (just a little, mind you) I had also been drinking tons of water and didn't empty my bladder very well.  (until I started jumping, haha.)  I just need to say that I can totally knock out 100 jumping jacks with no peeing as long as I pee first!  You know, in case you were wondering.  500+ lots of water was just too much for me.  (I am going to pay attention, though!  Pelvic floor issues are no joke!!  google it.)

I am thankful for these next 11 days of November. (27.5 more miles but who's counting?)  I am ready for Christmas but not quite.  I did start listening to Christmas music last week, though.  And got some peppermint creamer.  :)  And I can't wait to read my new Advent book!  (well, new from the library.)  It seems wrong to follow with this but here it is:  there is a lot on my list this year, too!  It's kind of fun.  :)

Going back to devotionals for a minute.  I have been reading from Jesus Calling for kids after dinner a few times a week and I really like it.  This sounds awful but at first it felt soooooo cheesy to me!  It is written like God Himself is talking to you and that felt weird.  Now, though?  I love it.  I'm not sure how the kids feel but they all do okay listening and even Nick really seems to get some of it.  (oh, he has a tender heart.)  I love it because I normally have some quiet time first thing in the morning and by 6:00pm I can really use a reminder of what's important.  Lately God has been reminding me what selflessness really is.  Good times.  ;)

Nick and I made cookies this morning for his school snack and they came out SO FLAT.  I totally blamed it on him to his teacher.  hahahhahaahhaha  (j/k)

jumping jacks & sequins

Hi all, How are you today?  I am good.  Super thankful for my cozy house and coffee on this cold, wet day with the first snowflakes coming down out there.  Thankful that both of my kids thanked me for their ride this morning.  :)  Thankful that I survived the jumping jack challenge yesterday.  (barely.)

Okay, so as part of this November challenge group that I joined is doing these countdown challenges.  There are 7 different ones and you have to do one 5x per week, trying them all AT LEAST ONCE.  I had 2 left to try, a leg one (squats) and the jumping jack one.  I tackled jumping jacks yesterday and thought I would DIE.  My heart rate kept getting up super high so I would stop for a minute and it would come down (pretty quickly) but then shoot right back up.  It was tough.  It took me 20 minutes and I burned 190 calories.  About 10 minutes after I finished I laid down and didn't wake up until the doorbell home from school.  It was only 20 minutes but I was dead to the world.  And yeah, Nick was here.  :)  Thankfully Patrick's iPad babysat him for me.  OH man.  Not doing that again.  I also peed all over myself and my breasts hurt today.  pms or jumping jacks??  who knows???

I don't want to add the cute image they made because it's not mine to share.  If you want to try it, it consists of: 100 regular jumping jacks, 90 cheer jumping jacks, 80 modified lunge jacks, 70 cross jumping jacks, 60 split jacks, 50 hop jacks, 40 high knee jacks, 30 squat jacks, 20 plank jacks and 10 burpee jacks.  You can find examples on YouTube if you don't know what they are.  (I didn't.)

HOWEVER, this is why I am loving this group.  It is really challenging me!  I would NEVER have chosen to try that on my own.  :)  I am already wondering if they are having a December challenge.  It is a lot of work (about an hour of exercise a day...mileage + challenges) but it feels really good, too.  If not December, then January.

I have really fond memories of last December.  It is all a blur of jam thumbprints and watching Downton Abbey.  Ah, delightful.  :)  While I loved it, I am not sure I want to fully embrace that again this year.

Quick subject change but kind of related because, the holidays are coming.  I got a beautiful Calvin Klein sequin skirt, just like this one:

I got it at the Dig, so it cost me about $1.  I didn't notice until I got home that it had a bunch of chocolate mushed into the back.  gross!  (don't ask me how I didn't notice...I must have been blinded by sequins!)  The previous owner totally melted a mini milky way or something down with her ass and then donated the skirt instead of cleaning it.  Now, I loved it but not enough to get it dry cleaned.  I sprayed some Oxi Clean on that thing and threw it in the machine in a lingerie bag.  Good as new!!  I have a secret passion for sequins but I have NEVER worn them.  That has to change soon.  I love this skirt!

And that is all.  This has been kind of awkward, hasn't it?  :)

hello dear ones

Good morning. Nick is standing here next to me being, well, Nick. Which is to say adorably challenging. :)

Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks:
I would like to say that last week I mowed over all those leaves with our mulching mower and it was SO satisfying.  I told Patrick afterwards that I had a fantasy (too much?) of driving around and mowing leafy yards everywhere.

We had a pumpkin carving night before Halloween this year!  Glory be!  It was fun and afterwards we watched a scary movie.  Monster House.  Kind of creepy but it turned out okay.   whew.

We had the chance to visit (ANOTHER) pumpkin patch with our friends.  It was a beautiful and really fun day.  :)  Afterward Patrick and I went and saw Gone Girl.  I didn't really like the book or the movie.  What a long ass movie.  Good acting, though, and I do like Tyler Perry.
I love James in this one:

My new glasses.  My sister likes them, mom doesn't.  I like them.  It's fun to see really well and not have contacts in all the time.  They are navy blue.

I need to get this Halloween crap off of my blog!!

good morning!!

Okay, that greeting might be a little obnoxious but I am so happy today.  Here's why:

  1. our computer is working again!  the monitor was shot so I have a new, smaller one for now but that is OKAY.
  2. I just got back from a walk and it was really nice & peaceful.
  3. Ruby does not have lice!  We had a scare yesterday when she was scratching her head but it's only a patch of dry skin.
  4. Nick has school this afternoon!
  5. This is not an early release day!
  6. I have a big mug of hot coffee in front of me!
  7. I get to volunteer in Ruby's room later on.  First time, looking forward to it.
  8. For the first time I let my kids off at school by the NO PARKING signs.  I was always curious if that meant no stopping at all or just no parking.  It means no stopping at all.  Thankfully, no ticket.  Lesson learned.  :)
  9. I joined Skinny Meg's November Challenge and it's pretty, um, challenging.  which is good for me!  Even when I'm regularly exercising, I don't challenge myself often.  I prefer to do enough to get by and then wonder why I don't lose weight.  :)  I'm curious to see what will happen this month.  We have to track our food every day, walk 75 miles this month, do hard ass daily countdown workouts and then participate in weekend team challenges.  Last weekend was do as many burpees as you can.  Just shoot me.
  10. I might actually get some work done later!  I have been missing eBay.  and the sales.  :)
